Friday to Monday

Friday AM – Monday PM
a recap.

Friday AM
-Bruce helps me lay 1200 bricks in my backyard…850 to go.
Friday PM
-Drop off the kiddies at Grandma’s and go with my wife to the Anchor in Hope Art Show.
-Jess wants to bid on all the expensive art because she had “expensive taste.”
-Joel Hasemeyer is amazing live. He is looping now.
-We go home after stopping by Coffee Depot for tea. I am drinking tea now…go figure.

Saturday AM
-Go to the Walk Your Talk Walk and stroll down Trautwein for the Foster Care system of Riverside…the event raises an estimated $27,000 (!)
-Get the art cleaned up from last night, switch gears for a weekend of musical worship leading.

Saturday PM
-Always fun to have J Boykin with us, and new guitar guy David is a joy to work with.
-After church, we cross the street over to the Dunlaps for an evening of grownup partying. She got her Master’s Degree. Go Karen! We sit around listening to countrified rough tracks of Ann Lynn’s new stuff. We evaluate whether or not a new song is “too” country. Yes it is…but it’s great.
-Pledge further allegiance to Pacifico.
-Fall asleep watching Universal HD’s reruns of Firefly. Shiny.

Sunday AM
-Two more services of leading The Grove.
-Jess and I swear we will not become “show parents” and sign up our little diva for modeling acting management. She was approached in the mall by a scout. The manager is a good guy and I believe he is genuinely interested in Aggie…if only to market her. We’re going to take this slow.

Sunday PM
-Bryan comes over and we lay the rest of the bricks. 2200 total. Wrists sore, back sore.
-Jess gives great backrubs. Thanks babe.

Monday AM
-7AM trip to Home Depot for 1500 pounds of sand for the sandbox(all in bags) 300 pounds of concrete (to brush into the newly laid brick) and 750 pounds of lava rock for landscaping filler. Monday morning Contractors laugh at the guy with 2550 pounds of materials on one cart. Almost careened into one of many whtie Chevy 2500’s in the parking lot. My Dakota Sport is lowriding.
-by 1PM, all sand is at home in the sandbox, the lava rock is poured, and all of the concrete has been swept into the cracks of the new patio. Jess and i determine that we need double the sand and lava rock…nice.
-Hose down the patio, my favorite part. It now looks like it’s been there for 100 years.
-Shower because by now I am pretty potent. Realize I have not showered since Saturday PM.
-Head to church to lead musical worship for the Christian & Missionary Alliance District Conference which is being hosted by The Grove.
-I come away refreshed and blessed. What an amazing time of singing to God.
-Head to Home Depot once more and clean them out of lava rock and sand. This time with 1800 pounds of sand and 400 pounds of rock.
-I still look funny pushing it around the store.
-Load my truck again.
-Unload my truck again.
-Empty 30 bags of sand into the box at 10:45 pm
-My body begins to remind me that I am no longer 25 and that I have been doing more manual labor than I should be. I balk back at said body and rake the sand.
-11:59PM – I post a really whiny post about my long weekend when I should be in bed.

UPDATE: Tuesday AM – Ibuprofen.

This is kind of off topic, but I didn't realize you were a pastor at first. Then I started reading more of your blog, and picked up on that. It's really refreshing to see someone blog about their faith.

I wrote some stuff on Religion and Apostacy as it relates to the end times. I think you might find it interesting. There are 4 articles there.

Have a good day and God bless.

You made me so tired reading your blog! You need to do an Office or Arrested Development marathon to recoup a little bit before heading back out. That being said, you gotta post pictures of the yard, it must look amazing! Miss you guys
